About Me

Hey, welcome. I’m hella glad you stopped by!

I’m Rose, a 30-something year old born, raised, and still living in Sonoma County, CA (aka Wine Country).

At the start of 2014, I decided that I was going to take charge of my health. I have a wonderful endocrine disorder called Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) which makes for some challenging issues with my body. To try and get a better handle on this disorder and to also stave off succumbing to my family’s long history of diabetes, I decided that I was going to finally make some lasting lifestyle changes.

Knowing that I hate the gym, but love to be outdoors, I decided I would use cycling, hiking/backpacking, and running to get my health on track. I am also changing the way that I eat and figuring out what works for my body, food-wise. Most of all, I’m trying to not be so hard on myself. Life is crazy and it gets in the way of our best intentions. I’m not perfect, and I know I won’t always be able to exercise and eat right. And, well, in the grand scheme of things, life is short and sometimes cheese and wine and craft beer demand to be enjoyed!

I started this blog to help me track my progress and hold myself accountable during this whole lifestyle change thing. Thanks for stopping by and following along with on my adventures!

  1. Rosie,

Great decision, I wish you the best. Focus on the joy and fun that an active life will bring to you. Even without the health benefits, and they are many, cycling and hiking will expose you to nature, and a whole group of like minded people. Nature compels our curiosity, nature loving people will reinforce, encourage, and edify your choice to move forward with a richer, healthier life! Never kid yourself on how hard one’s physical activities miust be to really improve, but, embrace the challenge! As one gets fitter, more and more doors open up, and they experience the satisfaction of seeing their lives change for the better! So, go Rosie go! I stumbled on your blog from the “Chasing Mailboxes” girl. I’ll check back to see how you are doing!
